Changing Your Domain Registrar (Not DNS Provider)
Overview
If you're transferring your domain registration to a new registrar but plan to continue using Sherweb as your DNS provider, this guide will help you understand how to maintain your DNS setup without disruption. You'll learn what nameservers are, how Sherweb fits into the configuration, and what steps to follow when updating your registrar.
Changing Your Domain Registrar (Not DNS Provider)
If you're moving your domain registration to a new registrar but keeping Sherweb as your DNS provider:
Your DNS records remain hosted with Sherweb.
You must update the nameserver settings at your new registrar to point to Sherweb’s DNS infrastructure.
Important Note: Sherweb is not discontinuing DNS services. We are only discontinuing domain name registration services. You can continue using Sherweb to manage your DNS records even after transferring your domain to another registrar.
Sherweb Nameserver Details
When your new registrar asks for nameserver information, provide the following:
Primary Nameserver: dns1.sherweb.com
Secondary Nameserver: dns2.sherweb.com
These nameservers ensure that your domain continues to resolve correctly using Sherweb’s DNS records.
Important Considerations
No DNS Downtime: If Sherweb’s nameservers are correctly configured, your DNS records will remain active.
Registrar ≠ DNS Host: Changing your registrar does not affect your DNS provider unless you explicitly change nameservers.
