As of Sept 30th 2025, all of Sherweb’s Hosted Exchange servers have been successfully upgraded from Exchange 2019 to Microsoft’s latest version: Exchange Server SE 2025.

Why was this upgrade necessary?

Microsoft announced that Exchange Server 2019 will reach End of Life on October 14, 2025. To ensure uninterrupted service and continued support for our HEX customers, Sherweb proactively upgraded all backend infrastructure to the SE 2025 version.

What does this mean for our customers?

The upgrade was performed entirely on the backend, making it transparent to customers. Customers will not notice any changes in their current HEX environment. To avoid confusion, no customer communication was sent out, as there is no impact on their experience.

There are no changes to prices, SKU features, etc. Everything which our customers had on 2016 or 2019 will work as is on the new Exchange SE version

What about the offer names in Cumulus?

The current SKUs in Cumulus still reference Exchange 2016 and 2019. We are working on a plan to rename these offers in a way that is least disruptive and helps reduce churn, this is also another reason why we decided not to communicate with customers about the back end upgrades. We have some dependencies from DEV, but I am aiming to complete these changes by December 2025. More details will be shared on this front soon.

If customers are reaching out with questions about Exchange SE 2025, You can inform them that: Sherweb has already upgraded all Hosted Exchange servers to Microsoft’s latest version Exchange SE 2025 on the backend. There is no action required on their part, and they will not be affected by Microsoft’s EOL notice for Exchange 2019.
