Settings Profile

You can set up your tenant quickly by selecting a Profile suited to your organization's needs. You can also review each event individually and create a custom profile that suits the organization’s specific needs.

Profiles do not support setting customizations, such as a customized list of file extensions in the Block “Bad” File Extensions, or custom email messages in the Flag Attachment containing Links settings.

To create a Profile, simply make your change into the Settings Page and click on Save and Apply.

Office Protect will ask you if you want to create a custom Profile. Select Yes and name your profile.

Office Protect will then apply the settings and return you to the Settings page.

The new profile will then be available for all your organizations in Office Protect for you to reuse in the Select Profile section at the top of the Settings page.

Saving Settings

When you click on Save and Apply, the entire list of settings will then be applied to the Active Tenant. We designed this to ensure that all of your settings are always up to date with the current profile and the latest version for each setting.

Saving a setting can take anywhere from 15 seconds to 5 minutes. Keep in mind that the more users you have, the longer the report will take. Also, the time it takes to apply settings depends on Microsoft’s ability to execute our commands.

How to Investigate Settings Changed Outside of Office Protect Event

The following settings are all monitored by our Settings Changed Outside of Office Protect event. If any of these are changed while Office Protect is monitoring your tenant, we will generate an event.

We recommend that you review the Unified Audit Logs to validate who performed the action and re-enforce the setting in Office Protect to ensure you are adequately protected. To learn more about this, consult the "Office Protect Settings - Audit Logs Always-On" article.
