Synopsis


Certain actions regarding Microsoft 365 subscriptions in the Cumulus billing portal requires a valid billing address to be configured in the Microsoft tenant. The updated version of the 'Microsoft Customer Agreement' may also need to be accepted.

An example of this requirement may be if you receive one of the following errors when upgrading a M365 subscription:



Here are the steps to ensure your organization information is up to date, including the acceptance of the 'Microsoft Customer Agreement'.


Update the Organization's Profile Information in the Admin Center & in Cumulus:

  • Ensure that a valid business address and a valid email address are listed. 
  • The State or province field must be manually selected in the dropdown menu. “When using browser auto-complete for the address, text may be added as a field that is a dropdown which makes the address invalid.”
  • Although the phone number is not required, please do not leave the field blank as it has caused errors in the past.
  • In the Admin Center - under 'Settings' - 'Org Settings' -  select 'Organization profile'.
  • Update the information and click 'save'




Update the Organization's Billing Information in the Admin Center:


Although the services are billed with the Cumulus platform, Microsoft requires a valid billing address for each tenant. This must be updated independently than the tenant's Organization Profile information.

 

  • In the Admin Center - under 'Billing' - 'Billing accounts' - the 'Sold to address' will be displayed. To update the information, select 'Edit'. 
  • Ensure that a valid business address and a valid email address are listed.

Re-accept the Microsoft Customer Agreement "MCA" in Cumulus:

  • Since Microsoft had changes to the MCA, if the MCA in Cumulus was approved prior to 2023, you need to re-accept it using the steps below. 
  • Under the Platform Settings for the organization in Cumulus go to 'Microsoft Customer Agreement' and click 'Edit'. Validate the information, select the checkbox accepting the agreement and click 'save'.
