Deploy Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) using the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) with Sherweb

Description

If the Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) software is not installed yet, Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) can be deployed to machines from the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) once the Veeam management agent is deployed.

Requirements

- The Veeam management agent was previously deployed on the destination machine. If the agent is not already installed, here is the article about the deployment of the Veeam management agent.

- Have credentials with the local Administrator permissions on the destination machine

- Have an available Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) license (using a license file or using a license previously created using the Pulse plugin). If not already created, here is the article about the creation of a Veeam license.

- Validate that the destination machine meets all requirements: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/system_requirements.html?ver=120

- Only users with the one of the following roles assigned can proceed with this procedure: Service Provider Global Administrator, Service Provider Administrator, Service Provider Operator.
 

Have the Company Owner credentials (credentials that were specified when the organization was created).

Procedure

  1. From the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) portal, go into the Discovery section and identify the desired machine using the company name, the hostname or the search field.

  2. Then, select the desired machine, click on Install Backup Server and click on Install.



  3. On the new window, keep the recommended option to download the software and click on Next.

  4. Specify an account with local Administrator permissions on the selected server and click on Next.

  5. Download the configuration file sample.

  6. Open the configuration file sample with a text editor (like notepad) and customize the file according to your needs. For more information about customizing the configuration file, see this article: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vac/reseller/vbr_install.html?ver=81

  7. Once the file is properly filled, click on Browse and select your configuration file. Then, click on Next.

  8. On the License section, choose the option that applies to your situation. Then, click on Next.

    a) VSPC Pulse – With this option, you can select a license that was previously created and assigned to this organisation using the Pulse plugin.

    b) Configuration file – With this option, it assumes that the license file was specified in the configuration file you customized.

    c) Specified license file - With this option, you can browse folders from your computer and choose a license file.

  9. On the Company Info section, enter the company credentials (also referred to the Company Owner).

  10. Specify the desired schedule to install your backup server and click on Next.




  11. Review deployment settings and click on Finish.




  12. Wait for the deployment to complete. This can take several minutes. Click on the deployment status for details.

  13. Once the deployment is completed, the new backup server will appear in the Backup Servers tab.
