Description
This article will help you to understand how billing works and how to get price discounts for the Veeam License Rental and the Veeam Cloud Connect services with Sherweb.
Important Notes
The reported usage of your Veeam products in your Cumulus account management portal can be affected by few factors, such as:
- Your billing cycle
- The grace period from Veeam
- The combination of Veeam services
- The onboarding date
- New protected workloads
- Etc.
Usage for the first month
The usage of the current month is considered “new” for Veeam License Rental and will not be invoiced in your Cumulus account management portal.
On the first day of the next month following the “new” usage, your Veeam licenses are considered as active and billable (unless a trial period is still active).
For example, let’s assume that you start using your Veeam services on the July 5th and your Cumulus invoice is created on the last day of the month. Your usage of Veeam License Rental and Veeam Cloud Connect services will be reported at zero (0) dollar on your invoice for July 31st.
Veeam Cloud Connect
To avoid reporting usage peaks for the storage usage, the reported usage in your Cumulus account management portal for Veeam Cloud Connect is averaged for the last thirty (30) days and rounded to the next Gigabyte (GB).
The usage reported for the Veeam Cloud Connect service in the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) with Sherweb may take one (1) day to be updated in your Cumulus account management portal.
Veeam License Rental
All types of protected workload will consume a license. The type of the workload and the chosen edition will define the rate per workload. The rate is a number of points defined by Veeam named “VCSP Rental Point Per Unit (PPU)”.
For example, if the protected workload is a virtual machine with Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise, the consumption will be nine (9) points. The total number of points is reported in your Cumulus account management portal per organization as Veeam License Rental Point Usage.
The usage reported for the Veeam License Rental service in the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) with Sherweb may take one (1) day to be updated in your Cumulus account management portal.
Veeam Cloud Connect Workload License
The use of Veeam Cloud Connect also requires a license per protected workload and consumes points too.
A machine, where the last recovery point is created in the past thirty-one (31) days to the provided cloud repository in the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC), is considered as a protected workload for Veeam Cloud Connect.
However, if Veeam License Rental is used, the Veeam Cloud Connect license is free is some cases (exceptions for Replicas (VCC-R) and Public Cloud workloads).
Commitment
To get a price discount on Veeam License Rental, you can commit to rent a minimum number of points every month for all your organizations.
However, if the total amount of points you rent is less than the amount of your commitment, the difference will be invoiced.
Example: If you have a commitment of one thousand (1,000) points per month, you will first receive a discount based on that commitment level. If your Cumulus invoice shows nine hundred (900) points used, the balance of one hundred (100) points will be billed on a separate invoice.
Please note that your Included M365 users for the M365 backup powered by Veeam service with Sherweb also count against your commitment with a ratio of 1.5 points per seat. Please see this article for details on the definition of Included M365 users for M365 backup powered by Veeam.
See your account manager for details about discount and commitment levels.
