Bitdefender – Which agent should I install and what are its roles?
To protect your network with Bitdefender, you must install the appropriate GravityZone security agents on network endpoints.
1. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools
GravityZone ensures Windows and Linux physical and virtual machines protection with Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools, an intelligent environment-aware security agent which adapts to the endpoint type. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools can be deployed on any machine, either virtual or physical, providing a flexible scanning system, being an ideal choice for mixed environments (physical, virtual and cloud).

- Content Control
- Patch Management
- Device Control
- Full Disk Encryption

2. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools for Windows Legacy
As security technologies move forward, some features in Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools are no longer supported on older editions of Windows. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools for Windows Legacy is a separate kit designed to protect these Windows editions without making any compromise for the security of the current ones.
Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools for Windows Legacy cannot be remotely deployed from the GravityZone console. The administrators need to install the BEST for Windows Legacy package manually or by using a third-party tool, such as Microsoft SCCM.

The following protection layers are available with Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools for Windows Legacy:
- Antimalware
- Advanced Threat Control (Not available for Windows Server 2003)
Endpoint Roles
- Exchange Protection
The Power User and Relay roles are not available with BEST for Windows Legacy.
3. Endpoint Security for Mac
Endpoint Security for Mac is a security agent designed to protect Intel-based Macintosh workstations and laptops. The scanning technology available is Local Scan, with security content stored locally.
