How to configure a Wasabi bucket as a destination for backups with Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR)

Description

Please follow this article for guidance on configuring a Wasabi bucket as a cloud destination for your backup jobs with Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR).

Requirements

  • The edition of Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) must be Enterprise or higher to support object storage as a destination for backups.

  • This procedure assumes that you have already enabled your Wasabi services with Sherweb and have created a Wasabi bucket in the desired region. For guidance on creating a bucket, please see this article.

  • The version of Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) must be v12.x or earlier to support object storage as a destination for backups.

Procedure

  1. Open your Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) console.

  2. Go to the Backup Infrastructure section and add a backup repository.

  3. On the next window, click on Object storage.

  4. Click on Additional Providers and click on Wasabi Cloud Storage.

  5. Name your backup repository and click on Next.

  6. Enter the proper region and credentials (access key and secret key) to connect to your Wasabi account.

  7. Select the bucket to use.

  8. Then, select or create the folder to use.

    Notes
    Immutability can only be enabled in Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) if the Object Lock feature is enabled on the Wasabi bucket.
